THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - November 2008

We held a very successful AGM on 16th November which was attended by 78 members. Thank you to those able to attend for having an active interest in your Club.

As you are aware economic conditions are tough and the Board will be closely monitoring areas where attention is needed or prices must be increased. The current year will be no better than last year and hopefully no worse.

A number of important decisions made by the Board were announced at the AGM. They were:

Development Plans
Our Development Plans are still the top priority of the Board and we hope that we will by able to be more definite with our recommendations after the Council Meeting on 12 December 2008.

Please note: SOCIAL MEMBERS ARE UNDER LAW ENTITLED TO VOTE ON THE SALE OF LAND AND WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS.

Food & Beverage Cart
A food and beverage cart will be introduced on the course from 1 December 2008. The bottom bar will not open until 3pm daily except on Sunday. However, the top bar will now open at 9.15am until further notice.

The cart driver will also act as Ranger to help eliminate slow play. Please treat the Ranger with proper respect.

Green Fee Price Increase
Following my message the General Manager will outline the green fee price increase.

Membership Closure
Membership for males (full playing, intermediate 1and 2) will close on 1 December 2008 and a waiting list will commence. The applicants will be required to pay the Joining Fee on being placed on the Waiting List.

A special thanks to Keith Fealy who stood down from the Board and a warm welcome to the new Director, Ken Hey. Many thanks to the other members who stood for the Board.

Good luck to all.

John McFadden

Moaners News

The Moaners Christmas Ham Day will be held on the 14th December 2008 for the Moaners members and their children. A list for the children’s name is on the notice board downstairs and it closes on December 7 2008. The cost for grandchildren of Moaners is $10.00 per child. The list for games on that day will go up this Sunday at the Presentation.

Also December 31 2008 is drawing very close and Moaners are reminded that they must have their game numbers up by that date or they will give up their positions to those “Moaners in waiting”  which now number 56.

The Centenary Golf Bag raffle will be drawn on 14th December 2008 so Moaners should remember to get their tickets prior to that date from Committee members.

Two Share 07 Pro Am Crown

Anthony Summers and David L. Partridge shot 3-under-par 68s to split the winner's cheque at the Central Coast Express Advocate & Coca-Cola $10,000 Pro Am, held Friday at Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club.

Vicki Tutt was the best-placed female competitor with a 2-over-par 73. Martin Dive, Greg Green and Edward Stedman shared third-place with 1-under-par 70s.

Open Amateur Stunner

TLGC member Stewart Creswick produced a stunning finish to overtake some of the state's best golfers and win the Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club Open Amateur individual stroke event held Saturday, 8 September, 2007.

In a spectacular inward nine, Stewart eagled the par 5 15th, then after a solid par on the 16th carded consecutive birdies on the 17th & 18th holes to post 1-under 69 and claim the coveted title from 2006 TLGC Junior Champion Dimi Papadatos who finished on 72, with Danny An of Strathfield Golf Club one stroke further back.

Stewart's outward nine had plenty of highlights as well, among them a hole-in-one at the temporary 6th hole when his approach to the 165-metre par 3 was never in doubt.

Long-time TLGC member Ron Ayton also finished well taking out the overall nett title with 71.

Woodward & Wehrle Triumph

Six-time club champion Brett Woodward (+1) and fellow A Grader Rodney Wehrle (4) proved too strong a combination against a top field in this year's Foursomes Championship, held Sunday 26 August, 2007 at Tuggerah Lakes.

Woodward and Wehrle carded 4-under-par 138 to pocket the A Grade winner's cheque and trophy with Ron Ayton and Greg Nicholas teaming well together for second. A Grade nett winners were the team of Andrew Arkins and Jason Henry, with Craig Chilvers and Jack Danswan second.

David Allomes and Jamie Armstrong won B Grade, with Michael Duggan and Anthony Duggan winning the nett trophy. Francis Gore and Hilton Cope claimed the C Grade scratch trophy, with Garry Walsh and Peter Costello (no, not that P Costello) taking out the C Grade nett title.

Top Gun Winner 07

Sean Cameron overcame a top-class field of TLGC members to claim this year's Top Gun Shootout, held Sunday 4 February, 2007.

Sean, who plays off an 11 handicap, showed nerves of steel as his opponents, including defending champion and two-time winner Ron Ayton, fell while his game went from strength to strength. Sean stormed home with birdies on 15 & 16, and a par on 17.

Jamie Power said at the start of the shootout that he would be walking up the 18th, finished second.
